A few times each year the waters rise and fall. Through time, the structures built in these areas give way to rot and an ever weakening foundation.
The structure is unsafe and unfortunately mom fell and was injured. They currently have their things in the home, and share a place with her sister who lives next door. The homes were semi connected by a plank bridge several feet off the ground.
Bridge the Gap is an organization that seeks to live by faith. Stretching each donation as far as possible. I became aware of the situation after I left Iquitos in May. This family is one we believe can and will do well. Their daughter is a recognized talent as well with Volleyball. As much as they are in need of a home, they are also in need of a sponsor.
I was so grateful to hear from a long time leader and supporter that they would like to help with a project. Marjorie was at the top of our list. We were surprised in the process to find that as in United States, the cost of materials sky-rocketed and we were short. Thank's to the continued support of large and small donations, we were able to purchase everything we needed.
They have begun building the new home and will tear down the existing structure at the end of the project because their things are still in the leaning structure.
Thank you for your support, and your prayers for this family. Marjories husband has come back from working out of the area. He is working now as a motor car driver, and looking for other work. Marjorie gained employment by cleaning a home, and was also funded to increase the product and scope of her existing small business.
We are so thankful and excited to see them in a better situation by moving them out of the poverty that really only exists because they have not had the opportunities to achieve greater things. Stay tuned for more updates on this lovely family. If you are interested in sponsoring this family, or know someone who can, their story is below. Or click to go to the sponsorship page.
